    Bacopa Monniera FAQ

What is Bacopa Monniera?

Bacopa Monniera is a herb common to India and the tropics which exhibits remarkable ability to enhance memory and cognitive function. It also has proven beneficial effects with regard to epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety and depression, bronchitis and asthma and hypothyroidism.

Can Bacopa Monniera help cancer sufferers?

No human clinical trials have been reported. However in vitro research is promising. It appears that Bacopa saponin fractions have the ability to inhibit DNA replication in cancerous cell lines.

Is Bacopa Monniera safe for all users?

Bacopa has been used for thousands of years and has been tested thoroughly by Western researchers over the last 20 years. To date no negative side effects have come to light. Bacopa has been seen to react adversely with the phenothiazine family of drugs and, consequently, those using this medication are advised to desist from Bacopa supplementation.

What is the recommended dosage for Bacopa Monniera?

The recommended dose for adults is 200-400 mg per day in divided doses. For children the daily recommendation is 100-200 mg per day in divided doses.
